Disclosures

Plain answers to the questions a careful person should ask about any insurance website: who we are, how we get paid, and what our claims do and don’t promise.

Effective date: August 12, 2026

Who we are

Seniors Lighthouse is an educational website and a licensed insurance brokerage. We are not an insurance company. We do not issue policies, decide who qualifies, or pay claims — the insurance company you choose does all three.

We are brokers, which means we work for you rather than for any single insurance company. We are not a captive agency for one carrier, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency or benefit program.

How we are paid

You do not pay us anything. Requesting guidance is free, the conversation is free, and there is no fee to use this website.

If you decide to buy a policy through us, we are paid a commission by the insurance company that issues it. That commission is already built into the policy’s premium; it is not added on top of what you would otherwise pay. Commission amounts differ between insurers and between products, which is a real conflict of interest that every insurance broker has. We tell you about it here so you can weigh our recommendations knowing it exists, and you should feel free to ask any agent how they are paid on a policy they suggest.

You can also verify any insurance license through your state insurance department.

Our educational content

Our guides are general education, not personalized advice. They cannot account for your health, your finances, your family, or your state’s rules. Nothing on this site guarantees coverage, pricing, approval, or any particular outcome, and no article is a substitute for reading the actual policy or for advice from a professional who knows your situation.

Where we cite costs — funeral and cremation figures, for example — those are published national averages used as rough estimates. They are not quotes, and prices in your area will differ. We say where each figure came from so you can check it yourself.

About our coverage claims

Our advertising says that coverage is available without a medical exam, and that most applicants can be covered right away. Here is what sits behind those statements:

  • No medical exam. The simplified issue policies we place do not require a paramedical exam, blood work, or a doctor’s visit for applicants under age 80. You answer health questions on the application instead. Answering those questions honestly matters: an insurer can deny a claim it finds was based on inaccurate answers.
  • Immediate coverage. More than nine in ten applicants qualify for coverage that begins as soon as the policy is issued, with no waiting period.
  • If you do not qualify for immediate coverage.A guaranteed acceptance policy is usually still available. These skip the health questions but generally include a waiting period — often the first two years — during which a death from natural causes pays back the premiums you paid, plus interest, rather than the full benefit. Your agent will tell you plainly which kind of policy you are being offered.
  • Approval is still the insurer’s decision. Age limits, coverage amounts, and product availability vary by insurer and by state.

Insurance companies we compare

The insurance company names and logos on this site belong to those companies. We show them to identify carriers whose products we compare. We do not represent every insurer available in your state, and there may be policies elsewhere in the market that suit you better. Displaying a carrier is not that carrier’s endorsement of us.

Reviews and testimonials

We do not publish customer testimonials, star ratings, or claims about how many families we have helped. When we have permission from real clients and records to back the numbers up, we will publish them and say so. Until then, we would rather show you nothing than show you something invented.

Contacting you

When you submit our form, a real licensed agent calls you. We do not robocall, and we do not sell your details to other agencies. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time. See our privacy policy for the details.
